Fall Goals Check In/Winter Goals

Don’t you just love the holiday season? It’s such a lovely transition period from one year the the next. Everyone is generally in good spirits, there’s a lot of love and laughter, and it’s just a great way to go into the next calendar year.

The flip side, though, is after the holiday season when everything goes gray. The weather gets cold and bitter, it’s cloudy almost every day, and if the sun comes out at all it never sticks around for very long. It’s hibernation season; a time to eat warm food, spend time with loved ones, get cozy, and dream, scheme, and make plans.

Earlier in the fall I made a list of goals I wanted to accomplish during the fall of 2016. And I am happy to report I accomplished every single one!

To recap, my goals were:

  1. Try a restorative yoga class.
I only went to one, but I really liked it! You can read more about the experience here.
  2. More home-cooked meals.
A delicious, happy check mark next to this goal. Done and will continue, because I looooove it.
  3. Practice manifestation.
I have actually seen success with this one, and I will continue to practice it. I need to work on thinking in the positive, like “I’ll be on time” as opposed to “I won’t be late.”
  4. Take it easy (especially on myself).
Along with this goal I posted something about how anxiety happens when you think you need to have everything figured out at the same time. I’ve totally loosened my grip and have learned that lessons will come with time, and the only possible thing I can do is keep trying, keep learning and keep plugging away. Happily accomplished!
  5. Make (so much) cranberry bread.
For Thanksgiving I baked 13 loaves of cranberry bread. I could do it in my sleep now. So yeah, accomplished, and I actually may make some more when I finish writing this…

I’m thrilled to have been able to accomplish all of these goals! Realizing I’ve done all these things really reminds me how much growth can be done in a short amount of time, so long as you’re working towards it. Goals are good for that sort of thing.

Now, onto winter goals!

  • Namastay zen.
My husband and I are moving the first of the year and I’m so excited! We’re going to be renting a two-bedroom house in the part of town we actually want to live in with a lot of land. But, to get to living to that house, we have to move. Moving is tough. There are so many moving parts to a move that it’s no wonder why people get frustrated with it. My hope is to stay zen throughout the process.
  • Try hot yoga.
Continuing with my theme of trying new yoga classes, I’d like to try hot yoga. I imagine it would be amazing on a bitterly cold day.
  • Host a party.
I used to absolutely adore hosting parties but since we’ve been living in this teeny cottage, I haven’t really been able to do it the way I’d like to. I’d like to get all my friends together for a night of fun… and possibly fondue.
  • Expand my business.
My business has been growing, and I’d like to continue to grow it (and rapidly!). Next year I will be expanding into homemade cold process soaps. My goal in regards to this list is to come up with a plan of action to accomplish my business goals.

That’s all for now! Do you have any goals for this upcoming season? Let me know in the comments!

With love,
Stephanie
