As you are probably ALL aware by now, I’m really into natural remedies. I’d rather use plants or oils to cure an ailment before I turn to a pill, and since I started doing this, I’ve cut WAY back on my ibuprofen, Nyquil, and Tums consumption. And bonus: since natural remedies are often versatile, it saves money, too!
Convincing other people to make the change is a difficult task, and to be honest not one I’m very aggressive about (I don’t think!), so imagine my surprise when I offered my fiancé Tums to cure his stomach issues last night and he asked for peppermint instead. And it WORKED. A half hour later he felt fine enough to consume Easter candy. 😛
Did you know peppermint works wonders in relieving stomach issues? And there are several options you can use to get the relief! Below is a list of some ways you can get relief of stomach aches caused by gas and indigestion using peppermint.
- Drink peppermint tea.
- Diffuse peppermint oil.
- Use a blend of oils rubbed directly on your stomach.
Note: I get my oil blends from LunasPotions on Etsy, but if you choose to whip up a blend yourself, do make sure you use an unscented carrier oil such as macadamia oil- do not apply the peppermint directly to your skin! - Suck on peppermint candy.
- Chew peppermint gum.
If you do go the peppermint candy or gum route, keep an eye on the sugar content, as too much will make stomach aches worse. - Take capsules of peppermint oil.
My favorite ways to get relief are by drinking tea and using the oil blends directly on my stomach. My laundry sometimes smells like mint before it goes in the wash, and I don’t mind it!
