Since I was dealing with some travel anxiety yesterday, I thought I would check in from my layover in Newark. I’m blogging from my phone, so my apologies if it’s choppy!
This morning, my fiancé (who luckily has today off!) drove me to Logan Airport in Boston. I’m so thankful for him- not only did he bring me to the airport and will be picking me up Saturday, centering two precious days off around me, it’s thanks to him that I’m even able to visit my BFF, K. Just another way he helps make my dreams come true on the daily- during this trip, K and I will be crossing off one of our friendship bucket list items, and we wouldn’t have been able to do that without him! ❤
Anyway! He came with me into the airport to find the right security checkpoint to get me to my gate, and stood there while I waiting in line. Just having his presence nearby did wonders for my anxiety, but soon I was waving goodbye as I turned out of sight.
I found my gate no problem and waiting to board was uneventful. As I mentioned, I don’t like air travel because I’ve had a lot of negative experiences with it, but so far it hasn’t been bad! My first flight departed on time and arrived early, conveniently to the same gate I’ll be using to head to West Palm Beach, so there will be no running around a semi-unfamiliar place looking for my next flight. Phew!
Using my “buddhify” app (I’ve mentioned it before, but as a reminder, it’s a meditation app with guided meditations for different scenarios) I meditated to a meditation called “Flight.” It mentioned that air travel is the only form of travel people generally don’t do for fun, and the main focus is always on the destination. It reminded me to live presently and enjoy the ride. The app costs $4.99, but it’s money well spent!
I doubt I will be blogging much until I get back. I hope you all have a fabulous rest of the week, and a big huge THANK YOU to all the vets out there who have kept our country safe. ❤
